IRest Yoga Nidra is a modern day form of the ancient practice of yoga nidra. Richard Miller, an American clinical psychologist, scholar and meditation teacher developed iRest Yoga Nidra in 2003 for the US military Walter Reed Army Medical Centre for the healing of wounded US military service members who were experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder. It proved to be extremely successful and was used in other military hospitals as well as for active duty service members, homeless shelters, colleges and universities to help with chronic pain, stress, burnout, traumatic experiences and sleep disorders.
The name IRest Integrative Restoration was chosen because the practice enables people to live a balanced integrated life with joy, peace and a greater sense of wellbeing.
