Yoga nidra is an ancient meditation practice that supports psychological, physical and spiritual healing. Regular practise of yoga nidra teaches you how to respond rather than react to your emotions and thoughts.
IRest Yoga Nidra is a modern day form of the ancient practice of yoga nidra. Richard Miller, an American clinical psychologist, scholar and meditation teacher developed iRest Yoga Nidra in 2003 for the US military Walter Reed Army Medical Centre for the healing of wounded US military service members who were experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder. It proved to be extremely successful and was used in other military hospitals as well as for active duty service members, homeless shelters, colleges and universities to help with chronic pain, stress, burnout, traumatic experiences and sleep disorders.
The name iRest Integrative Restoration was chosen because the practice enables people to live a balanced integrated life with joy, peace and a greater sense of wellbeing.
IRest Yoga Nidra is an educational programme that teaches self-care tools to improve your resilience and wellbeing. The deep relaxation techniques help with anxiety, insomnia, depression, stress, trauma and pain in your body and mind.
After practising iRest Yoga Nidra for two years and experiencing numerous benefits, Amanda has recently completed comprehensive iRest Yoga Nidra training in March, Level 1 and is now permitted to offer the teachings in private teachings and groups. Until full certification is achieved however, she is not permitted to use the title of an irest Yoga Nidra Teacher and aims to work towards completion of the certification process over the next few years.
